How do you make fans using the pinching method?

The Pinching Method is a prevalent lash technique. Mastering this skill can help lash artists make fans quickly and save time. Additionally, the fans made using this method are very beautiful. Many beginner lash artists may need to learn how to practice this method, so follow this tutorial.

Before you start practicing, make sure you have the following products ready:

  • Smooth, Kink-Free Lashes: Choosing 0.03mm or 0.05mm lashes for the Pinching Method is best. These thicknesses are ideal for making fans with this technique. Although you can use 0.07mm lashes, they are too thick, and natural lashes can not handle such thick fans better. 0.07mm lashes are usually used with the Rolling Method to make fans of about 5-7 lashes, while the Pinching Method typically pinches 10-15 lashes at once.

  • How to Check if the Lashes are Smooth: After removing the lashes from the box, stick them to a curved object and gently brush them. If the lashes are spread out evenly, they are smooth.
  • Loose Base Lashes: The Pinching Method mainly involves using your fingers to pinch the roots of the lashes together. If the lash tape is too sticky, the roots will not spread evenly after removal. It will make it difficult to form a perfect fan, even if you pinch the lashes with your fingers.
  • How to Check the Tape's Stickiness: Use tweezers to pick up as many lashes as possible, then release the tweezers. The tape's stickiness is appropriate if the lashes spread out naturally like dandelion seeds.

  • A Pair of Perfectly Gripping Tweezers: A good pair of tweezers will help you precisely pick up the required lashes without any loss and keep the roots neat without spreading out.

  • Pinching Technique: Gently pinch the lash roots with the sides of your thumb and index finger, applying force with both fingers simultaneously. You don't need too much force, as this can deform the fan. As you pinch, gently loosen the tweezers with your right hand. You don't need to create a gap; release a little pressure. The lashes will slip through the gap if you loosen the tweezers too much. Once you make the fan, more force is applied to hold the lashes, and a perfect fan is made.
